Weekend of work ~

Full AGAIN!
This past weekend was spent painting everything I could get my hands on and lug by myself.  It was 95 degrees or more every day, so I had to pace myself and work in the early morning and evening hours. The humidity made the days even hotter and gross. I won't even mention the dripping sweat...  I would prime my pieces at night and then get up early to paint them. It is just too hot to work after 12 or 1:00 in the afternoon.  I am getting a nice tan though!

Here are a ton of before and after pics of what I painted this weekend.

Small desk or book stand

painted with Rust Oleum Apple Red and antiqued with watered down black paint.

This is a signature desk that I have had for about a year and it hasn't sold. I don't like to paint pieces that aren't beat to heck, but this wasn't going to sell, so white paint it was.

RustO's Semi-Gloss White! and a litle distressing and it looks much better.

This is a small dresser that I have had in storage for about a year, and it was time for it to see new life.  I almost forgot to do a before picture. I had already started priming it with RustO's Primer spray.  Yup, it's dark. I had to get as much done as I could.  My booth was empty and badly in need of a re-stock and this was the weekend to get it done.

PeekABoo blue and white.

I found this at a thrift store and there was a note on the bottom of the table that said it was built from recycled pallets.  It was heavy and highly laquered.  I liked the top ok, but the legs needed some flash. So...

Colonial Red it became.  I love it.

I found this last weekend at the yard sale in my Mom and Dad's neighborhood.  It was $3!  It has a little veneer problem on the top, but once painted with RustO's Strawflower, it was great! A little distressing, and called it good.

This vanity mirror was painted with hammered silver when I bought it. I of course re-painted it Heirloom White and scraped the paint off the mirror and viola!

Flower Break! Enjoy ~

ok, this is really a weed, but it's still pretty!

~and we're back...

A 2 drawer dresser and mirror. I could not use this, I am too tall and the mirror cuts my head off.  I think people were shorter back in the day.  I love the look of it though.

I bought this coffee table in GA on the 90 mile yardsale. 2 years ago!!
I still remember that day, HOT HOT HOT, and HUMID!  My Mom stayed in the car after 1 or 2 in the afternoon it was that bad. We didn't finish the whole route, but we couldn't fit another piece of anything in the truck anyway, so home it was.

So this table was put in the black hole and didn't see the light of day until this weekend.  It is heavy and very sturdy and looks great painted Heriloom White (my favorite color in case you didn't know!)

This 3 level side table was only waiting for 5 months before it was painted.
You can see the before picture at the top of the post, in the back of the truck.
That's the only before picture I could find. Oh well.
I love the lion head design on it. It's more glamorous with the lion head, right? Nah. Just cool.

Another side table that didn't do anything for me naked, so I gave it a paint job of Colonial Red on top and white on the bottom.  Below are pictures of my booth with everything staged and ready to sell.

stacking is the key to fitting a ton of stuff in your space. I like it a lot.
Come see all and more at Little Mountain Unlimited!
It's 15,000 sq. ft. of old, vintage, rusty, primitive and unusual goodness.
Dogs are always welcome and we have cookies!
I also brought home 2 more pieces to paint tomorrow.  A 7 month old buffet and a 9 month old wash stand. At least they are getting done quicker than the 2 year old coffee table!  All in good time and now is the time. I want my garage back!

Mast General Store ~

While downtown, we checked out the new Mast General Store.  What a great place to waste time!  It is a true 'general' store. They carry shoes, hats, purses, dog items, camping gear, rows of candy, kitchen items, Burt's Bees, candles, clothes, baby items and much much more!  It was fun to just walk around and check it all out. This will be a great addition to downtown Columbia.
The upper 2 floors are still under construction

Maybe we should start a "People of Mast" website to go along with the "people of WalMart"

Burt's Bees!

Sock Monkeys!

Row upon row of CANDY!!!

jawbreakers

candles

Jams and Jellies

Definitely a place to check out if you find yourself downtown.  And after you are all hot and sweaty you can have lunch at my favorite place EVER: California Dreaming!

California Dreaming - built in an old train station.

I have been very busy today painting and trying to get as much done as I can. I am behind painting pieces and I am trying to get my storage areas cleaned out. My booths are bare and in need of new pieces. Tomorrow, I will post all that I have painted; before and afters. But now, I have to go check out the insides of my eyelids (my Dad always says that!) Good Night!
