WINNING! ~

Yup, That is my alma mater, The University of South Carolina, winning the College World Series. AGAIN!  WOO HOO! Back 2 Back championships.  Couldn't be prouder.  It hasn't always been easy to be a Gamecock fan. Our sports teams have a habit of choking when it counts. But the baseball team seems to have licked that. MVP of the game: Scott WINGO! It's just fun to say.  It was a few late nights though and I'm still tired. But I couldn't go to bed without knowing how they did.

Of course there was a parade to celebrate thier homecoming. Fun times.

Anyway, back to the furniture...

Last Saturday, I spent the entire day painting. I pulled this end table out of the garage. It had been in there for about 2 years.  It was covered in dust and spiders, it was gross. They dust turned to mud when I cleaned it up.  But my goal is to paint 5 things from my stash every weekend, and this was right inside the door, and I thought it was about time for it to see the light of day.

I was in a green mood. This is Green Apple spray paint with a white top. With a little distressing, I like the fresh cottagy(is that a word?) look.

This is another chair that has been in the black hole for about 2 years. I needed a chair to go with a desk I already have in my booth.  The white paint was messed up so I painted it BLACK!

I think the black makes it look smarter and it goes great with the desk.

This are very sturdy, simple chairs. Aged to perfection at around 2 1/2 years in the garage.  I couldn't decide what color to paint them, but I love red right now, so red they are..

They look great and go well with that walnut table to the left.

Here are a few more things that I painted, but need after pictures.

The guy I bought this from was so proud of the "marble" looking top on this table. It was hideous.

Love this curio with a mirrored back and glass shelves, and it has a light in it..

2 of the 3 kids chairs I did. These were already sanded down and ready to go. So they got a coat of Spa Blue. I'll have after pics of these tomorrow.

In the words of my father: I have to go check out the insides of my eyelids...

Peonies! ~

I painted everything I could pull out of the garage this weekend and I am TIRED! Saturday was beautiful with cooler temps and a slight breeze. So it was a perfect day for someone who was very behind painting and getting things organized for her booths.  Saturday was paint day, and Sunday was load it in my booths day.

So, in the meantime, enjoy these beautiful Peonies we found in Michigan.  I need to get my act together uploading my pictures and recoup.

I would also like to report that my hoarding problem is quickly becoming a thing of the past. I rammed by pinkie toe into some silverplated trays that were on my kitchen floor and then I cut my leg on a mirror that was leaning against the couch.  I can't take it anymore! Be prepared for the before and after pictures of my Living Room....

A few of my favorite things ~

I love magazines and the glossy, pretty pictures in them.  I don't have room to keep every magazine I purchase. So, I take pictures of the things I love and keep a digital record.
Here are a few of my favorite things that I snapped.

Almost got carried away posting...
I take pictures of the things I love for ideas and inspiration.
I also have a giant 3 ring binder full of project ideas. Maybe some day I will actually do one!

Happy Weekend!

Bar Stools ~

I recently finished some nasty, ugly bar stools purchased at my favorite store: Goodwill!

I, of course, forgot to take before pics.  When I found them, they were painted purple and written all over with marker.  They were hideous.  But that's probably why they were $2.00 each.

Here is what they looked like after a quick makeover.

I painted them Heirloom White (shocker!) and found some great rub on transfers.  I then sprayed each seat with 2 or 3 layers of a laquer finish to protect the image.  Much better looking now!

This weekend will be a very busy weekend for me. I have a ton of projects lined up and ready to go. It finally cooled down today and I hope it stays nice all weekend.  I need to re-stock all 3 of my booths too.   I will remember to take before and after pics of everything I do.

Ready....Set.....GO......

I LOVE Primitives ~

I love primitive furniture, and while on the Peachtree 23 yardsale, I ran into my friend Judy, who lives right on the route. This was a wonderful surprise since she has talked about how her house is filled with primitive furnishings and that I needed to see it some day. Well, this was the day, unexpected, but I was excited all the same, I just wish I had more time.  I have been to her shop several times and drool over all the wonderful, authentic primitive furniture, cabinets and trinkets she carries. She goes on buying trips to OH, IN and PA several times a year, and I hope I will be fortunate to tag along with her some day.

My main priority of that day was to find as much old, rusty goodness as I could fit into my truck, but I took time out to tour Judy's house. It. was. awesome! I only hope to have some of her style and good primitives in the future.

Even her garden is cute!

Front sitting room. I'll take the Firkin's please!

Other side of the front sitting room.

Guest room

This is a little hard to see. But it's an old buggy seat made into a bench.

Master bedroom with handmade floor cloth on the floor

This came out of a slaves quarters

Very fitting for the 4th of July! So cute!

The mural above the fireplace was beautiful

The table that matched these chairs was outside holding sale items.

The Laundry Room

Loved this wagon on her front porch

I hope to come back someday for an extended stay and take better pictures. I could move into her house; I wonder if she likes dogs.....The shop is more of what you see here. I could move in there too! The whole day was a lot of fun. It was very hot, but full of great surprises and fun to run into people you knew along the way.

Thanks Judy!
