Peachtree 23 - 50 mile long yardsale ~

HOT HOT HOT!

The day started with me sleeping in, my alarm didn't go off. I'm dense.  My friend Cindy was waiting for me at a grocery store and had to call and wake me up to meet her. I was in the car within 15 minutes and off we went. Well almost, we had to get a biscuit from Hardee's and then I had to hit the bank.
We got to our first stop at 6:45 or so, and we didn't stop...

what would the country be without John Deere?

a mosaic tiled tractor, I sense a theme...

I don't think my neighbors would appreciate this..

this one lays blue and green eggs, I forget the name of this kind of chicken

LUNCH! Southern BBQ of pulled pork.

My friend Judy's yard. More on her house another day. It was BEAUTIFUL and Primitive. Did I mention that I love Primitives?

$350 for a spinning wheel? No.

Dealers from NJ. EXPENSIVE!

these were cool wood carvings

Peach farmers held up traffic everywhere!
crammed full

Here is the haul
(not the buffet in the background, that's another project)

2 chairs that need new upholstrey and a large gateleg table

a rusty peanut butter tin, soap holder, lamp and nightstand

aqua platter and upholstrey hammer

juice glasses

the first of 3 kids chairs. A tiny painting of a sailboat and a comb for bozo's hair..

another kids chair, already sanded and ready to go. A chamber pot and cute napkins

BOOKS to add to my summer reading list

the car was cleaned out and my dog, Finn, jumped in ready to go for a ride (we didn't)

an iron plant stand, 2 matching mahogany book cases, a childs coat rack, a tri fold dresser mirror

we couldn't leave the low country of SC without peaches from
Edgefield, the peach capital of the world!

another oak mirror, of course it needs a little work...

All in all, it was a great day. Ran into some friends, toured another friends house, met a ton of wonderful people and sweated about 5 pounds away. While I was doing this yardsale, my parents were coming home from St. Louis and stopped at the Georgia 90 mile yardsale. My Mom and I did this 2 years ago and I don't like that they always do these sales the same weekend. Which is bad for us addicts. But they scored a buffet for me for $15! I can't wait to see that.

I will be very busy tomorrow getting as much done as I can so I don't have to store any of my finds. I will post pictures of each piece as they are completed.
The caboose comes at the end.
The End.

They grow up so fast ~

Ok, I promise this will be the last of the bird picture updates. They have grown so fast and 2 have flown away, but the two in my wreath are still there, but they are the lazy ones and they are still there. Soon, I will be birdless and I can finally get my bushes cut and clean the nest out of the wreath.

Today!
I think they are used to me intruding now. They didn't budge when I started taking pictures. They certainly make a mess though. Soon the kids will be off to parts unknown, and I'll be left with the memories.  Such is life.........

Since it's summer and I don't have a vacation planned (yet) I am living vicariously through books.  I love to read and used to read about 4 books a week, but since I started with the furniture, I haven't had a whole lot of extra time to pick up a book. However, this summer, I want to get caught up with my reading.  I have a closet FULL of books that I want to read and while there is no way to get through them all this summer, I can certainly make a dent in it.

Here is my closet of books!  Don't you just love looking at it? Sad thing is, you can't see all of them. There are 2 more shelves of books under the tower of books.  I don't have an e-reader, and don't think I want one. I like to hold the book in my hand and feel the pages.  That sure would help with the stack of books, but I like my stack! So this is what I am reading now:

Also, don't forget the most important day of the month:
NATIONAL DONUT DAY!
Get a free donut at Krispy Kreme on 6/3.

Saturday is also the 50 mile long yardsale from Batesburg, SC to Modoc, SC. You betcha I'll be there! It will be extremely hot and humid, but I hope to find some great junk. I did the sale last year and had a great time. I'll take pictures along the way and you can tag along.  Don't forget your donut!

Cape May, New Jersey ~

Since it has been blistering hot this week and I have worked my full time job, I haven't wanted to paint furniture. I did bring two pieces home from storage to work on, but when it is so hot and humid, it's a little tough to get motivated.  I'll at least get them cleaned up and ready to go.

In the meantime, I thought I would share some pictures of last summer in Cape May, New Jersey.
It was gorgeous! Well worth the trip.

Nice huh?
