While in MI my Mom and I shopped about 25 yard sales. There were 15 sales in my Grandma's neighborhood alone!
It was raining the morning of the sale, but we ventured out anyway and at 7am hit a neighbor with a ton of books! I know, just what I need. I did get a bunch of cookbooks for a $1.00 a piece. These I can put right in my booth.
Here are some pictures of my finds. Not staged very well, but I had to get it all unloaded and "processed" in between working my real job and working at the antique store. It has also been extremely hot and humid this week and I haven't painted anything. I think I have to move some projects inside and paint them in the A/C. Just what I need in my house, more junk. But I won't get anything done if I don't.
Yup, $3.00 for the set of pyrex bowls. The giant shells are pretty cool too..
The 2 yellow ware bowls were the biggest steal. I paid $1.00 for both of them and a turquoise vase. My Mom was standing behind me trying not to faint. Love them!
Love the hobnail creamer and sugar too. I love mini's.
Wood Penguins!
A great fan that still works.
I just bought the lamp base. I had the shade at home. I buy good shades wherever I go because they are so expensive to buy new, and I HATE paying retail. I think I paid $1.00 for the shade and $2.50 for the base. Cute right?
An iron pedestal
A piece of leather luggage for $.25. Yes, that is twenty five cents, she only wanted a dime, but I splurged!
3 curling irons. I love the painted handles
This is the heaviest and awesomest buffet. This is the top. Needs a ton of sanding if I keep the original wood, but we'll have to see how all this paint splatter comes off. The guy I bought it from said it had been in his Mom's basement since he was 6 years old. The paint is from when he decided to be helpful and paint the basement, when he was 6 years old. Not a good thing. But good for me!
Great details
For some reason, I couldn't upload the correct position of the picture. This piece is currently in storage on it's side, you'll just have to turn your computer sideways to see it. I had to put it storage because I can't lift it or maneuver it by myself, and it weighs a ton. It is sold oak, from the heaviest trees grown...
great hardware, I'll just clean it up and put it back on.
The entire piece looks like this; paint splattered.
So there will be a ton of sanding involved. But It's probably one of my favorite pieces. When I picked this up (after 3 days) he had a table that hadn't sold. He knew I was looking at that too, but I decided on the buffet only, but it was there and he didn't want it so it came home with me - FREE!
The thing to the right in the picture is another project that we'll pretend isn't there...
So a good trip to MI all around.
Great family time, great shopping, Hen party, and the weather was wonderfully cool.
Now I have to get busy!
